Welcome to PDF Annotations (https://pdfannotations.com). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a secure user experience. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Data Controller

The Service is operated by the PDF Annotations service operator (“we”, “us”, “our”).

3. Data We Collect

We follow a Local‑First architecture and collect only the minimum data required to operate the Service.

3.1 Account Data (OAuth Login)

When you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive:

  • Email address
  • Display name
  • Profile picture URL
  • OAuth provider ID

We do not receive your password.

3.2 Subscription & Payment Data

Payments are processed by Creem.

  • Creem collects and stores all billing and payment information.
  • We do not store full card numbers, card last four digits, or billing details.
  • We store only minimal subscription metadata:
    • Subscription status
    • Plan type
    • Creem transaction ID

3.3 Usage Data (Analytics)

We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data such as:

  • Page views
  • Button clicks
  • Device type
  • Browser information

GA4 does not collect personal identifiers such as your name or email.

3.4 PDF Content

We do NOT collect, upload, or store your PDF files. All PDF processing happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device.

4. How We Use Data

We use your data only for the following purposes:

4.1 Contractual necessity

  • Creating and managing your account
  • Providing Pro subscription features
  • Processing payments (via Creem)

4.2 Legitimate interests

  • Improving product performance
  • Understanding feature usage
  • Preventing abuse or misuse

  • Responding to lawful requests

We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies for:

  • Anonymous analytics (GA4)

We do not use cookies for advertising or cross‑site tracking.

We share data only with trusted processors necessary to operate the Service:

  • Google / GitHub — Authentication
  • Creem — Payment processing
  • Neon — Database storage (subscription metadata only)
  • Vercel — Hosting
  • Google Analytics 4 — Anonymous usage analytics

We do not sell or share your personal data for marketing.
